It is still the day they were born, and the reason we all remember them.

I'd say it is fitting, and it helps us all remember the good times, and maybe touch base with their families if just to say hi, we remember

It is a day to celebrate, even if they have left us.

Better than being stuck with just the anniversary of the day we lost them.

I like being reminded of their birthdays.

The question came up a couple years ago, as I remember, when a Noob wished someone a happy BD not realizing they were departed. .. Would it be possible to put an asterisk after their name or otherwise denote it..?
    Just wondering allowed here...

I believe a designator would be a useful tool, but then where would the explanation for the designator be?

Maybe just put (RIP) after their names in their profile, if that's possible.

I just checked Brett's profile and someone added the RIP and date of passing as a title. I thought I recalled seeing this before. Maybe the (RIP) could be made part of the board name. That would then show up when their b-days come up.

Chris I like the idea of RIP following their board name..No confusion then at all, I would think?

    Yes,
I feel kind of wierd putting "Happy Birthday" in the thread title to recognize a member that is no longer with us. However, if their family happens to check the board on that day, it let's them know that we too are still thing of/miss their loved ones.
