Just East of Austin Nevada .. Plenty of time to think about bikes, people and riding while waiting for DOT to clear Highway 50. Sept 2011.

Maybe it was a coincidence ???

Today is the second day of my trip to Washington and Oregon.. By early afternoon , I was running west on Wa. 14 which had very little traffic but really GUSTY winds.. I was still feeling a bit fatigued as a result of yesterdays late start, rain half the day, etc. 14 along here is a 90 mile-per-hour, almost straight cruise, as it follows the rivers edge. I caught myself allowing a gust to blow me from right side to center, ALMOST across the line as an oncoming Pickup gave me plenty of room... I slowed abit and realized I had been falling asleep mentally.. I remembered some water and a granola bar in my bag so decided to get off teh bike for a few minutes..Just as I shut the bike off , I saw this big ol train heading east I grabbed my camera and took the shot and began thinking about both Gary and Shannon . Never got to ride with either one but knew them as well as I could thru board interaction.. I am not too keen on coincidences so in this case, I am gonna say a lil thanks

Gary was with me on my ride last week through Nevada, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah. Hit Lolo Pass, Beartooth Pass, most of Yellowstone, Grand Mesa, and 550 from Ouray to Durango.

Does anyone know how his daughter is doing? She was with him when he left us, and was hurt. I hope she's fully recovered and doing well in life.
