I spent hours combing the Mid Ohio swap meet for headlights of the large variety.. not a single one, except for the GS 1100 that had one, and he wasn't parting it out..

The description says 198mm, but that's probably the overall diameter.

Still looks pretty cool to me.

Brent...could you post a pic of the full 7r coversion?

Si: Just so I'm clear.... your pic is a Zr7 bracket and '04 cb599 headlight kit?

Any suggestions on the best place to pick up the cb599 kit?

Seriously...I hooked up with a fellow member over at the GSResources forum.
Fair price, decent condition. I'm repainting the bucket and the ring has a little minor rust, but still very usable.

There is one on ebay right now...crappy picture and he mis-labeled it as an 80-81 light...

    8" GS headlight

    Happy bidding!

OK....not to further complicate things, but I just talked to a guy
who rebuilds GS's and he just told me the "train light" is 9" diameter.

the lens itself is considered 8" but the housing is 9+".

that e-bay link does not look like the big light to me.

EDIT: I think you're correct as he changed the discription from an 1100 to a 1000.

But just to be sure, I e-mailed the seller and asked for the diameter of the HL.

You might order a Headlight for a Honda Nighthawk 750. They still sell the headlight through Honda and Bikebandit complete. It's an 8 incher and is pretty flat and has a chrome shell. At least the 2000 model I had did.
