    Re: Portland area ride today

Damn you guys been busy chatting about yesterday instead of out riding. Have you seen the forecast for the rest of the week?

Had a great time with you guys. I was telling Arlie, hanging out and BSing is what I enjoy about getting together at the cave. The wrenching and riding are just icing on the cake.

First chance I get I'm riding up to see Arlie and the rest of the gang in the Portland area.

Glad to hear you guys had a nice ride, Klaus and I went for a ride yesterday and tested out my course (I'm thinking of putting together an OVM "Moto-Piccolo" ride for bikes 250cc and under) and it is freakin' awesome (even for the rexes)!
Start in the town of Coburg, ride a couple of miles south on Coburg Rd-->Mc Kenzie View Drive (or as I call it the "super speedway" ) --> Old Mohawk Rd.--> Camp Creek Road --> Millican Road --> short jog W. on Hwy 126 --> Deerhorn Rd. --> Holden Creek Lane --> Hwy 126 just W. of Leaburg --> Vida store and then backtrack all the way to the start. About 80 miles of nice scenery, low traffic, lots of nice corners and some good places to go fast

That was my first thought, but I think that's the only seal that's not leaking. For sure it's leaking where the petcock attaches to the tank, but it also appears to be leaking around the large flat seal under the Prim/Res knob as well as the large OD seal around the outside of the knob. Basically every rubber seal that I didn't change

Forgot which of you two gave me the heads up on the radiator in the FS section, but good call. Mine was leaking, but not from around any of the bent brackets. It was out in the middle where everything looked fine, and didn't show up until the engine was hot and the sysytem pressurized. I got that all swapped out while everyone else was riding Saturday

I should be ready to ride as soon as the weather is nice again We'll have to try the route you suggest

The last mile or so on your right (between the road and the McKenzie)before you cross over Marcola Rd to Camp Creek was my family's mint/beet/carrot farm. Many happy days there as a kid...hated moving irrigation pipe though.

Pisses me off I missed the ride Arlie!

Well OK maybe not that much.

Perhaps the timing'd be right for you to drop by these parts as well, or maybe just some of us Willamette-area 'rexers meet up with you for a ride, etc.?

Glad to be able to have been of assistence, Todd! Which reminds me: Having read Forza's thread describing his 'coolant puking' issues... and remembering the similarity to what you were describing... I think I'd want to at least re-torque the cylinder head, if it were me.

Whatcha talkin about, Mike? They don't ALWAYS work on their engines on the floor!!!
You're not the ONLY one with a moveable adjustable engine stand, and OURS can ride it after we're done!!!

    Try moving pipes in potatoes.

I was going about 125mph going through that area, I'll slow down and have a look next time

True story....I was standing in the mint field in the late 60's, standing in the sun moving irrigation pipe. My older cousin was taking my mom for a ride in a bright yellow T bucket he'd built with a big block Olds in it for power.
He drove down the road about a quarter mile from their house and we watched.

Gary (cousin) had built the car so he could uncap the headers with a lever from the drivers seat.

I watched him turn around probably a half mile away. Staged. I heard him uncap the headers and sit at idle for a couple seconds...then I saw the tire smoke and the car visibly jump....it was maybe a half second delay before the roar of uncapped headers at full honk reached me. To this day I swear I could hear my mom screaming over that big block Olds.

LOL, my Mom crashed my '68 Harley 125 into a drainage ditch in Joseph while I was standing in our front yard watching.
She was yelling her head off so I ran up...

...and made sure my bike was okay.

    She still remembers that, unfortunately.
