Soooo how did we get there and what are we doing you askk????????
Well thill kinda went away for me personally for the weekend , altho it was great to see everyone (different thread).. So I get a call Sat nite from Daveman checking in and I discover
he will be up this way visiting family..With some encouragement, I managed to tempt him into
a lil mind clearing exercise using Grass Valley/ Nevada City area as a meeting point..
Since neither of us were on Rexes, we kept this in the stealth mode..Besides , it was spur
of the moment . I had met Dave at teh GV coffee shop teh day , almost a year ago, that he
had purchased teh beuatiful SUzook... This was gonna work great since I still needed a
couple hundred break in miles on the duc.
The ride up into the Sierras was fairly uneventful except for noting that the weather was
chilly but exceptionally clear
Hooke up with Dave at the coffee shop and the two of us decided I would lead
wherever(Holding the duc to 6 grand for breakin , there would be no staying
with Daveman) ..![]()
I DO love Hiwy49 north of Nevada City and so off we went with my promise to Dave that if we
hit the snowline, we could always backtrack ....
Well from Nevada City to Downieville is a great MC road but today it had a lot of running
water, sand and mush across teh road in spots..With that in mind and since it was such a
great day weather wise, we continued to Downieville at a cautiosly moderate pace..
Stopping for a short break at Dville and to apologize to the cruiser rider for the pass aways
back , we gassed up and hung out in town for a few minutes . There just happens to be
snow laying on the ground and the roof of the building, but I Promised Dman that it would
be minimal the way we were headed..
Both Dave and I wandered a bit as with left Dville and rode along the crystal CLEAR river
with teh fresh snofall feeding eht fast moving waters.. I can't describe how that water
looked and SHOULD have taken pics but the road was STILL mushy , sandy and bad in hte
shady areas..Difficult finding decent places to pull over..Up to this point it had been high 40s
so Dave was hanging in there ok.. I was wearing heated gear and had to keep remembering
we needed thaw-Stops as the temps began dropping and the speed picked up...
Here are a few shots from along the way...
The higher we got the colder it got and the more white stuff laying around..( STILL beautiful
day out tho)
Up on top we cleared the summit and this was the first time I had seen the Valley
below COVERED in snow..Did I mention It was getting COLD ...But Dman was sticking with
teh program
