    A little NOS help please

Does anyone know anything about this kit. http://www.holley.com/03008RNOS.asp I have a guy here in town that wants to sell me this kit. I don't know awhole lot about NOS but I must admit that this deal has peak my interest. I'm wondering if this kit is alittle more then I really want. Now correct me if I'm wrong but I can buy any size jets to get the power down to what ever level I want correct? I don't know all the info on what size jet will come with it but from what I found online it looks like the smallest is a size 28 jet which is good for 100 hp. Which is over double the amount I wanted to start with. All so is there a way to hide the nozzles going into the carbs? I'm running pods and I don't really want every joe blow seeing that I have a NOS piping running all around my bike. If anyone has any pics of their bike on NOS please post but most of all I just need some one to educate me. I don't race I just want to be able to put a big sh$t eating grin on my face from time to time. Also he wants $200 for the kit, from what I've seen online thats a good deal. Post up and let me know what you think.

Well that will get you started. I don't see a bottle, fuel pump, safety switch, bottle bracket, bottle hoses, pressure guages, WOT thottle switch, etc listed with the kit. A good complete system, set up right will run ya at least a $G. Yes you can change the jets and run any power you want. I would not recomend going over a 40 shot on stock pistons.

Well the guy has a bottle with the kit. He had it set up on a r6, not sure what year but it is a wet kit. He says that the kit is ready to install and run. I'm only looking to run about a 40-50 shot of juice and it's going to be on a 1109 kitted bike. I don't have all the detail on wheather it comes with a fuel pump and reg or what else. This is just the question and answer portion. I'm basically a newbe at this and just want to make sure I don't go and get something that is just going to set in the closet. My current set up is, 1109 kit, dual valve springs, zx11 ecu, and cams. I'm reading all I can about this but I will definetly need some help from the sprayers here on the board to get me going. Teach me O wise one.

It's a little scary at first but once you understand what a full system consists of and how it all works it's just like anything else. On my system I use a full pump that is regulated at 6psi. I also have a fuel pressure safty switch that is set at 5psi. If fuel pressure ever gets below 5psi the system will shut down and hopefully save my motor from meltdown. You want the jet the system so you A/F ratio runs at 12.5 or richer. On the 4.5psi pumps that usually come with those kits that will equal about a 4 jet stagger, meaning 18 NOS and 22 fuel jets. Filters. You should have filters on both the fuel and NOS sides. Very easy to clog up a jet and have bad things happen. For $200 with bottle included that is a good deal and good starting point. MPS has a good supply of NOS parts.

if it's a complete wet kit that's a great deal. i find it hard to believe he ran a wet kit on an r6 though. the price and previous bike scream dry kit which is useless to your podded bike.

This is the write up he posted on his ad

"This nitrous kit was bought brand new for $600 dollars and it works great. I used it on my R6 that I use to race at the quarter mile track. This kit is the 03008NOS kit made by name brand NOS and is specifacally made for motorcycles. Everything you need to get started comes with the kit, including the bottle. The bottle is also very inexpensive to fill up. I only spent 5 dollars everytime I had to fill it. The kit also come with a wide variety of fuel and nitrous jet sizes so you can pick how much power you want out of the system. This is a wet nitrous system that will deliver nitrous and more fuel to your engine. The wet nitrous system will deliver more power than a dry nitrous system."

I'm going to look at it this weekend, is there anything I should look out for?

Must have been on an older carberated R6. Just make sure everthing is there. You may want to check and see what jet sizes it comes with. You will want jets in the low 20's to high teens for a stock motor.

if it's got 4 nozzles, 2 solenoids, fuel pump, bottle and lines / brackets i'd jump on it.

Looks like all the basics are there. Your only going to get 1 or 2 runs out of that little bottle. Good buy.

Yea I was wondering about that bottle. I have a question for you, the guy wasn't running a regulator on the system, is the nos fuel pumps already set at the right pressure? I have the instructions so I'm going to set down and read it tonight.

I believe the NOS fuel pumps run at a constant 4.5 psi. I am told that they are known to fail. You can install a safety cutoff switch so that when the fuel pressure drops it will cut off the system. I have an adjustable one that I picked up from Summit. They come in STD pressures and adjustable. Just a little insurance in case of a failure.

This going in the closet, right beside my steering damper, my zx11 covers(waiting to be powder coated), the custom sprocket cover, my led gauge lights(still haven't put those in yet), rearset plates, and the powder coat system that I got to pc my swingarm, forks, and covers. My wife says I'm losing it. I think I have a mod problem .
