    That does look nice.

Here's mine, I used a '77 Honda CB750 supersport headlight I got on eBay for $22. It came with a nice 7" Carello H4 bulb

Bumping an old thread here, I know, but does anyone know where I can get a black bucket and ring? I want to use one of the $15 ebay "diamond" headlights and I plan to use the ZR7 brackets.
    Thanks!

Recent Convert ZR7 with a 76 KZ400 headlight. Its smaller then most headlights , I don't have compensation issues

Anyway why is a nekkid ZRX not a ZRX if Mama Kaw was selling them as such then they are ZRX's . IS a ZRX1200S not a ZRX either

No, the only option is Ebay or try to find one from a cycle salvage.....they are few and FAR between.....last one on ebay sold for over $150...and the last one sold here went for $225 with the ZX7 bracket....but they are the best......I love mine.....

cb600 lights are the "best". gs lights throw a relatively lousy beam, but look great.

Doesn't the Honda light have seperate lamps and reflectors for high and low beam?

yes. truly a "perfect" beam. i'm night-blind and even with an upgraded harness, the gs lights leave me squinting. the cb light is the schizzle.

Finished the light and gaiters...hopefully can mod the blinkers to get clipons installed before summers end. The light needed some "massaging" to get it into installable condition and the ZR7 bracket was a pain in the butt to acquire.

    Now with clipons!

    I likes it.

    EDIT Sep 12, 2009:

I've had several people over the last couple weeks PM me about hte fork gaiters so figured I'd repost the info on them

I got them off the web..eBay...Harley parts! ..........

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Harle...Q5fAccessories

    seller:
    legendsmc ( 20577)
    98.9%
    Part: Harley,Wide Glide,New Fork Gator type Covers,fits 41mm

They say for 41mm forks but they fit our 43 mm's about perfectly. Upper end grabs the tube nice and snug. You have to trim off the bottom portion and I think the bottom 2 rings to get a good fit...but they work great.
The hardest part is getting a good clean cut on the bottom parts.
Make sure you put them on with the front end off the ground (forks at full extension).

I painted headlight bezel gloss black and the back of the gauges flat black. I decided to leave a little chrome on the guages so they dont look so plain looking at them on the bike. I also smoked the headlight a little which I love how it turned out and I can still see perfect at night!

Sweet! I like your setup. I think we have the same taste. Also converted to round headlight/fork gators (Triumph Scrambler) en I recently bought a set of zx9 clipons. How's the handling with your clipons? And wich clutch&brake master cylinder are you using?

Thanks Hornix! Looove the silver man!

The handling is different....the only thing I can compare it to is a short ride I took once on smackman's old school Ducati. It just feels more direct and connected and more forgiving at the same time.
It's misery itself under 60 or 70...though I've been getting used to that over the past couple weeks. Over 70 and/or on a good twisty road it shines.
I was always plagued by bump steer on this bike....hit bumps while cranked over on my favorite roads and the bike wanted to change direction a little. When I realized it was just rider input (and was drastically reduced if I just relaxed and took my weight off the bars) I knew clipons would work well for me.
With the shorter lever arm for steering input, no rubberized connection at the upper clamp...it is definitely more solid and forward weight bias is obviously changed quite a bit.
I don't know if I'd do it if this was my only bike. If you try it, keep the Coerce (?) bars close by. ...but it's a fairly cheap mod and completely transforms the bike. Dear Arlie (itchy butt) Martin built this rocket.....he put on cheater brakes. I haven't ridden a racer or a new literbike but I can't imagine the brakes being better...I believe they are RC51 brake and clutch masters.

Thanx for the explaining. You're right, it is a fairly cheap mod (paid 35 euro's for the clipons) and nothing has to be detroyed so I can easily build it back to the streetbarsetup. I'll posst a picture when finished
