Some of the aftermarket headlights have better beam patterns...and I like the old school look.

It seems to me that most folks like the Rex because of its original timeless styling; putting a round headlight on it makes it look like a UJM (Universal Japanese Motorcycle) circa 1970's.

I guess I can see bastardizing a non-green model since they aren't the real deal anyways, but to me its like removing the split window from a '63 Corvette Coupe.

Flame suit on but the intent of the question is not to offend. Just wondering why so many choose to make the Rex look like an old Suzukahondayamasaki-something.

man, i never thought of it that way. i think i'm gonna go put my fairing on too so my bike can look just like all the other rexes. oh wait, mine's red so i guess it's not a real one and doesn't really matter. thanks for the heads up.

Seriously, I grew up on round headlights, and there just aren't enough new bikes out there with them as standard equipment. Plus, everyone that has a ZRX mainly started with the small fairing and square headlight...I sure don't want to be like everyone else.

BTW, mine started life 22 months and 43,000 miles ago as a green bike...

Mines a '78 KZ1000 replica chrome bucket. Retainer ring bent in my wreck. Already got new chrome retainer. Going to paint bucket low gloss black.
    Headlight black bracket from Holeshot.

Makes a little more sense to me now. Around here (Boston) it is rare to see another Rex so the stock look stands out enough.

Of course, if i do the mod. I'm going to have to get an MP3 recording of the buzzing noise from the fairing vibrating against that inner shelf piece. Time for more double-sided tape....

Ooh. Round headlight w/Z1-R style fairing & Hesa tail would be BITCHEN. Do the whole up in matte black & brushed aluminum. Maybe if/when I can swing the $$$ for 2nd Rex.

Still though, if this thing wasn't green, and have the look it does, I would have bought a GSX 1100G cheaper. Round head light and all.

Just type "cafe faring"; without the quotes, into eBay. Many to choose from.

Other key words to search by are quarter fairing, small fairing, fly screen, front fairing etc.

I purchased it at Cycle Gear. As stated before there are a lot of them out there. I filled in the two small headlight mounting holes and modified the stock fairing mounts to hold the round light. Cut out side plates and welded to the stock fairing mounts to cover up mount, wires etc. No buffeting and decent wind protection. I get lots of "what year is that bike"

My set up, per request, since I forgot to mention it, is a bucket from cycle recycle and a ZR7 bracket. Both were sanded extensively and powdercoated black. I bought the flyscreen from someone on the board, came from europe is all I know.
