    Venting the valve cover

Which member just wrote me and told me that venting the valve cover won't work because exhaust comes through. I say this one more time in case you missed it. When you remove the Kawasaki Clean Air System and your airbox. There is nothing there to recirclate. You can remove the reeds and tee the hoses together a run a hose with a small filter in it.

You can take the crankcase breather hose that went to the bottom of the air box and put a filter in it. And if you, you so desire you can run one filter at the crankcase hose down by the transmission and use just that one alone as in by itself. I have my reasons for running two small filters and if some say it's overkill, waste, won't work Fine they didn't have to pay for it. But If it does work and works well I am sure everyone will want to jump on the bandwagon. I did it, I like it, it's going to stay that way ,it's over.

I'm a little confused (go figure) . Are those filters attached to the reed valve covers, the carb vent lines, or the crankcase breather?

Never mind, saw your other threads. IMO, if you are going to run vents on the reed covers, you should leave the reeds in place so the air can only flow out the exhaust. Otherwise, you're just blowing exhause out of the filters.

The valve cover is not vented, it is sealed off from the reed covers. The reed covers go into the exhaust ports on the head...the exhaust pulls the air out. You would have oil in under the blockoffs otherwise...but all you have is exhaust soot. If you pull the head, you can see where the ports enter the exhaust flow.

Not sure why you are not understanding this...when you hook up the crankcase vent to a T that goes to the reed covers, it is the same as welding a bung on the exhaust and using it to pull a vacuum. The bung is more effiecient, but the reed covers are there and are free.

Ok let me see if I follow you. The reed covers have exhaust vacuum that pull airbox air into the exhaust. #2 The only true breather is at the cover on the transmission.

Bob, Don't do this mod, it wont work, I made a mistake I am sorry. I looked at it in the service manual and I didn't think it would be a problem. I spoke out of turn before I knew all the facts. I felt I should let you know I was wrong and the buck stops with me.
    Again Iam sorry jimmy

Don't need pods. If you get block-off plates, they usually come with the necessary plug (7/8", plastic?) for the airbox. Some members have used plugs (I believe 5/8" freeze plugs) on the stock vent-plates for a true low-budget fix. Removing the octopus opens a vacuum line, too, which needs to be capped. Ivan's Performance has the whole shebang for $35 or so.

i good clean copper 1/2 inch cap will plug the hole in the airbox,
if your getting used block off plates, most dont include the plug since they may need them, if your going to pods it isnt a issue
