    Re: Using oil

Mine did similar at around that mileage. Perth - Phillip Island and back one year it used 4 litres of oil. You could smell it if riding behind it.
I decided to have the top end overhauled,...

Re: Which is your favorite bike

ZZR1200, ZRX1200, like them both equally. They both have similar milage.

The ZZR is my comfy sports tourer with lots of oomph (BW headers), the ZRX (with Akra) is my adrenaline rush.

    I have...

  5. Re: Hope our friends in NSW Australia are managing ok

...... and some thunderstorms, with dry lightning, which started a few more fires. Can't win every time.
  6. Re: What did you do to your OTHER BIKE today?

The ZZR1200? Rode it. Trying to edge it ever closer to the 150,000 km mark. 380km to go.
Top weather for a ride here, 28 C, almost start of our summer.
  7. Re: Hope our friends in NSW Australia are managing ok

We've had some here as well in the last week, a couple also deliberately lit.
The emergency services here were very quick to respond.
  8. Re: Hope our friends in NSW Australia are managing ok

Reports have it that some of the NSW and QLD catastrophic fires were deliberately lit.
    Farkers!

Re: ACF-50 is some great stuff

Thanks, I'm amazed at how well it brought up the engine cases from faded to something better looking.

Diggs, eBay as well, similar price. BTW, I'm in QLD next weekend......

Re: ACF-50 is some great stuff

    This is good stuff!
Cleaned the bike, light spray of ACF-50 on metals bits, wipe down and looks good.
I cleaned the chain with kerosene, then ran a rag over it with ACF-50, to prevent any rust....

    Re: Survey says..........

I taught 3 of my offspring to ride, before they could drive. I firmly believe that it has made them better drivers.
  14. Re: This bike keeps throwin' me curve balls.

Perhaps they looked good, but there's a chance they are sticking.

    Re: Any cigar shmokers?

Smoke cigars - yes, but not too often.
Cigars in this country are damned expensive, with hefty tobacco taxes.
Importing cigars, or trying "duty free" when passing through overseas airports - the...

Re: 157,000 kilometres - What To Do Now

Murph, it all depends on how much money you want to spend.
Top end noise, perhaps a top-end overhaul and some new piston rings.
Getting hotter - new water pump and radiator.
    Replace alternator.

    Re: The stars aligned!

I'm glad you posted this up. I bought one off Webbike, took the old foam off, had the OEM cover replaced, and put it back on the bike this morning. Firm but good. No more crushed nuts.

    Re: Hello from Sydney

I sometimes squirt a bit of CRC into the key lock. No problems with venting.
  22. Re: new member/owner from melbourne, australia

    Welcome from the West!

You can't go wrong with the ZRX.
  23. Re: What did you do to your OTHER BIKE today?

    ZZR1200 - just shy of 150,000 km.
Completed an oil and (spin-on) filter change.
Checked the clutch plates, and decided to replace 3 steels as they showed burn marks.
    Pressure plate: no marks from...
