    Re: Chirp on deceleration?

Did you pull the rear wheel and check the cush drive bushing? And rubbers? And there are 2 wheel bearings and a cush drive bearing.... That's the rest of the driveline...

    Re: Chirp on deceleration?

Mileage has next to nothing to do with brake and clutch hydraulic system condition.

Maybe the throttle tube needs cleaning. Do not lube it, just becomes grinding compound.

    Re: Chirp on deceleration?

It's not the clutch or starter\alternator chain tensioner....

Do rebuild the clutch master and slave as well as replace the old rubber line to get the feel back. How old are the brakes?
  8. Re: AV80R starts making scrap metal - Taig Micro Lathe

I had a chance several years ago to purchase a barely used (1 car project) Smithy 1220XL with about $2K in tooling for ---- $2000. :doh
  9. Re: AV80R starts making scrap metal - Taig Micro Lathe

Machining brass (and bronze) is a particular challenge, sure you want to start there?
  10. Re: AV80R starts making scrap metal - Taig Micro Lathe

Well crap! Looks like I'm going to have to get an old Bridgeport mill like I used to run and have some fun too!

    Go Arash!

    Re: Chirp on deceleration?

Is the cush drive bushing dry? The cush drive will rotate a bit in the wheel with throttle manipulation, if it's dry it could squeeeek.

    Re: bronco

Why did Chevy put the distributor in the back? Probably for packaging reasons. Where the oil pump ends up (the oil pump is driven from the end of the distributor driveshaft) determines oil pan shape...

    Re: Why bikes sound different.....

More HP = bigger bangs, higher pressure when the exhaust valve opens, more exhaust gas flow. Cam timing will affect exhaust sound.

    :wow:

I got 13K out of a PR4GT rear once. More like 10K is the norm. Front PR4GT goes 12 - 13K then I change it cause it starts to steer funny, not cause it's worn out.

Re: front end noise when riding C14

I just replaced the front wheel bearings in my C14, about 68,000 miles. First relatively new motorcycle that I've detected worn or notchy wheel bearings in.

    Re: Oil from behind carbs

    Here we go...

Check your oil level, smell for gas at the oil filler.

Nice of you to give him a potential problem without telling him how to actually check for it.
