  1. Re: Got a nice, brisk, 200 mile ride in today!!!

If we get some dry weather in Nov or Dec I'd like to join you for a ride!
  2. Re: Got a nice, brisk, 200 mile ride in today!!!

Sweet, Derro! I don't get on that side of the Sound very often but there are a few nice roads over there.

I got in my own nice little ride (only about 40 miles) on Friday. I'm gone for the rest...
  3. Re: One of you current ZRX owners had your bike worked on at MY shop

Beautiful, Johnnie! If I were ever to spring for Ohlins forks on one of my Rexes, it would be for RSUs. They just look right on that bike (plus work right).

Since I now have more than one ZRX,...

Re: Called in sick to ride.

I'm with you there! But I will admit to have taken an occasional "mental health day" to get in a good ride and clear my head during my 43-year career.

Re: Holy purple and green, Batman!

Oops - I should have zoomed in closer on the pic! My experience was just with '98 and newer. My bad.

I hate these scams. I almost got involved on one for a black '01 Rex a couple years ago, but...

Look closer - that bike (and all stock ZX9Rs from that era) has standard RSU forks. Just like my son's '01.

Re: Holy purple and green, Batman!

I really liked my son's '01 ZX9R (before it was stolen from him in Virginia). But this one is nice!

Yes there is! I'd trade for his suspension in a heartbeat.

Mine's just a muffler on the stock header. Nice sound, and a little lighter, but no power gain.

But not my silver '04. .

Re: Why have a reserve AND a fuel gauge?

Me! But it was kind of on purpose, to see just how much gas was in reserve in my '01.

However, using that data on my '05, I did run out of gas once, trying to push it to the next gas stop. I ran...
  12. Re: Hello from Seattle! Proud new owner of a 2003 Zrx1200r. Questions about mods

I'm at Maltby, near Woodinville, so a meet-up is easy!

Mike is a bit over an hour south of us. Still do-able.

The are a few relatively new Rexers I've met around the Puget Sound.

  13. Re: Hello from Seattle! Proud new owner of a 2003 Zrx1200r. Questions about mods

Yes, we still need a meet & greet! And a ride, though that may have to wait till next Spring. I'l be back in town at the end of October m, and it's usually getting cool and damp by then.

    Welcome...
  14. Re: What all do I need for a valve clearance check and coolant flush?

Some here will say replace all the rubber gaskets every time the cam cover is removed. I've been able to reuse relatively fresh gaskets a couple times without issues. If they are pliable and placed...

    Re: ZRX bikes and Family

My son Carne got his green '01 in about '05, a couple years after I got my first ZRX (a black '01 in 2003). He still has it. Here it is earlier this year, and here is my current personal ZRX fleet.

Re: Loving where I live now!

If the falls pic was Bridle Veil Falls near Index, I was just there this Thursday. Great hiking in this part of the county. I've been hiking almost every week.

  18. Re: Michelin Pilot Road 5s impress the hell out of me

I may need to try PR5s one day.

For those asking about Roadsmart 3s, I'm running a set on my '04 Touring Rex. About 5K miles so far this summer, great steering response, never twitched even over...
  19. Re: About 3k miles down and we are safe in Olympia WA

I'd really like to make this trip!

    Re: Dunlop Q3+

Thanks, Forrest! You'll love the Q3+.

The calipers are standard-mount units from a '99 TL1000 (or some years of ZX636). Lighter than 6-pots, excellent braking, very inexpensive. With a 14mm master...

'03 green is still one of my favorite color/stripe schemes. I'd buy one too (guess that's why I have three now).
